Unknown 1.22 fixes the Sign in with Google crash
New in Unknown 1.22: if the app quit the moment you clicked Sign in with Google, that bug is fixed. Update and the Google window opens the way it always should have.
What was broken
On earlier versions, clicking Sign in with Google closed the app instantly. No error message, no Google window, just gone - every time, on every Mac. The cause was on our side: the app was missing an internal registration that Google's sign-in library requires before it will start, and the library treats that as a fatal error instead of reporting it back to the app. The result was a crash before the sign-in ever began.
What 1.22 changes
The registration is now in place, and the button does what it says: Google's account picker opens in a secure system window, you pick an account, and you are signed in. Email and Apple sign-in were never affected.
Nothing of yours was at risk. The crash happened before any sign-in traffic started, so no data was sent or lost, and your library, reading progress, highlights, and settings never leave your Mac in the first place.
How to update
- In the app: choose Check for Updates from the Unknown menu. The update installs in place and keeps your whole library.
- Fresh install: download the latest version from unknown.ac.
You are on the fixed version if About Unknown shows 1.22 or later.

Do I need to reinstall the app?
No. Updating in place - via Check for Updates or by dropping the new version into Applications - is enough. Your library and settings carry over.
Was any of my data affected?
No. The crash happened before the sign-in flow started, so nothing was sent, and nothing on your Mac was touched.
Which versions had the bug?
Every version that offered Sign in with Google before 1.22. The fix ships in 1.22.
